How to Choose the Perfect Ziplining Kit for You and Your Family

Now that you know some of the best zip lining kits available, it’s time to choose which one is best for you. Below, you’ll find my step-by-step buying guide, detailing everything you need to know about zip lines, enabling you to make the perfect purchasing decision.

Length

The first thing you’ll want to consider is how long you want your zip line to be. As you can see from my list, many of the leading kits have an average length of around 95 feet. However, there are many that go up to 100 feet and some as small as 70 feet.

You should measure where you’re considering installing your zip line. This will give you a clear idea of what size zip line to buy. Although you can use a small amount of the line, for example, to fit a 60 foot gap, for the full experience, you’ll want to ride at least 70 feet.

It’s possible to use your zipline down at your local park. For this, you can be sure that there will be trees at least 70 feet apart. If you plan on doing this, it may be worth investing in tree protectors, so you don’t annoy any locals.

Installation

If you buy an extremely basic and unassembled ziplining kit, it can take hours to put everything together. Putting the trolley of your zipline together can take hours, and everything has to fit into place perfectly for the zipline to work safely and smoothly.

If you have no experience in installing zip lines, it’s highly recommended that you invest in a kit similar to the ones above. Some market themselves as taking 2 minutes to install, whereas others can take around half an hour.

These are the professional kits and are highly recommended for first time zip liners.

Safety

As with any child-related product, safety is a huge concern. Ziplines may seem dangerous, but a lot of work has gone into these kits to ensure they are safe. This includes durable materials to stop them breaking mid-ride, as well as a safety breaks to ensure your child won’t crash into a tree.

As a rule of thumb, check the manufacturer’s age recommendation when purchasing your desired zipline kit.

As a rough guideline, you’ll always want the highest quality materials possible to ensure that nothing frays or becomes a safety hazard. You won’t want any aspect of the zipline breaking while in use.

To ensure this doesn’t happen, always invest in a mid to high range kit. The cheaper the kit, and the cheaper the materials are that were used in production, the more likely it is to break.

Adjustability

To ensure comfort while riding, you’ll want to be sure that the seat of your zip line (if it has one) is adjustable. This will allow your child to get on and off the zip line with ease, as well as keeping them a safe distance from the ground.

Extra Features

As you can see, ziplines have various features as their selling points. Similar to the one in my list, some zip lines will come with built-in LED lights to make the zipline look awesome while you’re riding at night.

Some kits will have other unique features such as styled seats, styled trolleys, and other aesthetically interesting features. Always check your product before purchasing.

Conclusion

Ziplining is a world of fun and entertainment. There’s nothing like rushing through the air at high speeds. There are so many things you can do while ziplining and things really get interesting once your child’s confidence builds up and you introduce water guns.

When shopping for your ideal zip lining kit, always take your time and follow my step-by-step buying guide to ensure you’re making the best decision.
