Slow-Cooker Beef and Broccoli

Looking for a no-maintenance food that can be a kid-pleasure? Slow-Cooker Beef and Broccoli could be the answer to your prayers. This dish is good to prepare on a hectic day because the prep time is barely 10-12 minutes and the slow cooker takes care of the rest of the work. Here is the list of ingredients that you would need for this meal.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 lbs of flank steak cut into long but thin slices, chopped yellow or green onions, 1 cup low-sodium beef broth, 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce, 3 cloves minced garlic, 3 cups of broccoli florets cut into small pieces, 2 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 1 tablespoon honey or 1/3 cup of dark brown sugar along with salt and ground black pepper. Sesame seeds can also be considered for garnishing. So, let’s get to the instructions now.

Instructions:

Place the beef slices and chopped onions in a slow cooker. Whisk together soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, beef broth, and sesame oil in a mixing bowl. To contribute to the taste, add black pepper and salt. Now, pour the mixture on the slow cooker on top of the beef and onions. Cover the cooker with a lid and cook on low heat temperature for about 3 1/2 hours to 4 hours, until the meat is nicely cooked.

Once you have waited for the meat to cook, scoop out ¼ cup of the broth from the slow cooker and pour them into a bowl. Add cornstarch and whisk together and then return it back to the slow cooker. Add broccoli and gently stir the fixture. Cover the lid again and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes, until the broccoli is nice and tender. The dish is ready. Serve them warm with brown or white rice after sprinkling them with sesame seeds.

Slow Cooker Ham with Sticky Ginger Glaze

This scrumptious ham is tasty and super easy to prepare. The list of ingredients is relatively small as well. So, treat your kids with this flavorsome slow cooker dish. Let’s dive into the ingredient list now. 1 full thickly sliced onions, 10 cloves and few more for studding, 1½ litre bottle ginger beer, 1 medium gammon joint, approx 1.3kg, 1 tablespoon of English mustard, and 3 tablespoon of ginger preserve.

Instructions:

Place the 10 cloves and onion in your slow cooker right at the base and then nestle in the gammon joint. Next, pour all the content of the ginger beer. Cover the cooker and cook at the lowest temperature for 6-7 hours, until the gammon gets tender. Remember, it should still hold its shape so do not overcook them. Keep a watch once you are nearing the 6th hour so that you can remove them from the slow cooker on time.

Next, preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan. Get rid of the skin from the gammon so that you are left with a fat layer. By using a sharp kitchen knife, score the fat layer in a diamond pattern, making sure that you do not cut into the meat. Finally, stud the center of each diamond with cloves. Mix the ginger and mustard in a bowl and brush the mixture over the gammon and let it bake for another 20 minutes till it becomes golden and sticky. Allow some cooling time before you are ready to serve the dish to your hungry kids.
